Black Lives Matter

The Tennessee Chapter of the National Association of Multicultural Education, consistent with the National Association of Multicultural Education, collectively works to promote multicultural education that advocates equity for all, regardless of race, ethnicity, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, socioeconomic status, language, ability, or immigration status.

TN NAME stands with NAME in denouncing the wrongful death of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers and all police violence against blacks. These acts of violence and racism must end now.

TN NAME knows that now, more than ever, social justice and culturally-responsive education are essential to our public schools in this state and country, regardless of their demographics. Educators have the responsibility and capacity to teach the truth about the opportunity gaps and inequities for African Americans and all people of color in our country. TN NAME strives to help educators understand and challenge racism, biases, and privilege. We stand with NAME to build solidarity in our state of Tennessee and across the country and globe.
